ATSNE offers a
two-year Assistant Faculty Course designed for those teachers
who want to learn the hands-on aspect of the training course
curriculum and progress to a faculty position in the training
program. Teachers are invited to apply to the program by the
Director. Pre-requisites include: a minimum of four years of
private teaching experience and successful completion of at
least four post-graduate semesters at ATSNE.
Application to the Assistant
Faculty Course includes: teaching a private lesson that is
observed by the Director; giving a lesson to the Director; and
an interview with the Director. The course includes a minimum
of one day per week attendance on the training course and a
weekly, two-hour class for assistant faculty taught by the
Director. Assistant faculty will also have the opportunity to
observe or assist the Director on evening seminars, teacher
refresher courses, and specialized workshops. Teachers are
accepted to the program for a one-year term. Re-enrollment for
the second year is by invitation of the Director.
Upon successful completion of
the two-year training, teachers may apply for a faculty
position at ATSNE.
When I was introduced to the Alexander Technique about a year
and a half ago I felt instantly at home. I enjoy my weekly
lesson and am challenged by the useful truths presented by my
teacher. My percentage of “perfect” golf swings has
increased. My Tai chi swordplay is more fluid and
effortless. My use of a once-painful foot is steadily
improving. My balance is more certain. I have more mental
clarity. And I’m addicted to the freshness I experience with
each lesson.
